Blessings on the Path

On the journey you will find flowers along the path.  They were created for your enjoyment but they were also created for a purpose.  Every flower is part of the great design God created.  Nothing was created by accident (not even fleas).  The flowers, insects, and ecosystem interact and make it possible for other flowers to seed and grow.  So it is with you.

You were created for a purpose.  God created you because He loves you and wants you to love Him in return.  Often we mistakenly look first for some “job” God has created for us to fulfill.  That puts the responsibility on us, to find that job.  God did not intend it to be a puzzle we need to fulfill.  God intended us to receive His love and to receive what He has for us.

In Luke 1:28 the angel Gabriel said to Mary, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!”
The appearance of the angel and these words puzzled Mary, but the angel reassured her in verses 30-33, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.  And behold you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.  He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High.  And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”

These words, too, puzzled Mary so she asked in verse 34, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?” And the angel told Mary what God was about to do for her in verse 35, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy – the Son of God.”  The angel also told Mary about other events that would happen.
Mary responded to the angel and said in verse 38, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord, let it be to me according to your word.”

Mary’s purpose was to receive God’s love and also to receive what God had for her; of her.

On your journey, your purpose, your flower, is to receive God’s love for you, and to receive what God has for you; of you.

Receive God’s love.

Ask what He has for you; of you.

Wait.

Our response, I am your servant, let it be to me according to your word, allows the flower to grow.
