Mary tells the disciples Jesus is alive

Mary’s struggle in this scene is that she has to convince the disciples that Jesus IS alive.  That may not seem like an obstacle to us, but we’ve had 2000 years to read what others have written about the resurrection.  Mary didn’t have anything to go on.  She was the only person who saw Jesus, and to make matters worse she was a woman.  Women in ancient Palestine didn’t have rights or a voice so speaking out was a very bold move on Mary’s part.  Have you ever said something or made a claim that was so bold you felt helpless?  Mary KNEW Jesus was alive…the question is how could she convince the others he was alive?  What would you have done?

Maybe the better question is what do we do today?  How do we explain the resurrection to others?  Is it a subject you’ve discussed with others?
