A few weeks ago I had a bit of a tough week…how about you? Have you had any unexpected surprises lately? Anything thrown you for a loop lately? While circumstances don’t rule our lives, we cannot and should not ignore our feelings. My experiences (there were numerous) left me feeling hope-less. I felt like a salmon swimming upstream in the midst of millions of salmon. I didn’t feel like I was getting anywhere. The good news is that in the middle of my hopelessness, there was God.
God chose me.
That led me to do some deep soul searching about where hope comes from and where it’s going.
I believe God creates anew each day. All around us God is creating new matter in the universe today and I believe that is true within ourselves as well. God creates in us each day. The God who created the universe is creating beautiful things in us now. The beginning of the Shema found in Deuteronomy 6:4 from The Message says,
Attention, Israel!
God, our God! God the one and only!
So if God, the one and only God, is creating “new” in us today, we DO need to pay attention. Our hope is already established. We just need to choose to recognize that hope. In other words, because God chose me, I need to choose me.
God chooses you.
You need to choose yourself. Choose to believe in God’s plan for you.
Take time today to listen to God and ask God what he has for you today… ask God for a seed of hope…
